4 dry cycles? FOR REAL?

So I got my first BG AIO size Medium today. I am loving the diaper....really loving it.

But it took FOUR 'very dry' drying cycles to get the sucker dry! What on Earth am I doing wrong?! Surely that can't be normal -- or who on Earth would want these?!

Don't get me wrong, I knew AIOs were known to take a long time to dry. But four dryer cycles? That seems a little excessive.

Any tips? Or is this really how long it normally takes?

And that's why AIO's don't cut it in my house.

Well, and they can have more buildup issues with hard water and they never have enough absorbency for my heavy-wetters, but still, that's a whole 'nother ball of wax. I think it took my 20yo dryer 2 cycles or so to get the bG AIO's dry. The bG's were frequently found in loads of towels or clothes or whatever was next in the dryer lineup.

You can turn BG AIO's out. It helps a lot.

I only put my diapers in for one cycle, then I hang any that aren't dry. I've never had a dryer that can get AIOs totally dry, or bamboo dipes either for that matter.

I have always loved AIO's. Mine all dry on a rack inside in 1-2 days depending on the weather. I dont use the dryer. My fitteds take longer, especially the natural fibre fitteds Vs. the synthetic AIO's (like BumGenius).

Maybe they find it hard to dry in the dryer because the wet part is against the PUL and so it sweats and the moisture stays in it instead of leaving the dryer.... if that makes sense

The AIOs do take longer to dry, but not 4 cycles worth. I set the HE washer on super spin or whatever it's called to get as much water out as possible. On that setting, most of the diapers feel dry getting out of the washer!

Hmmm, my bG's take about a cycle and a half, both the organic one size and the regular AIO. I use dryer balls -- may those help? (You can either buy them or make them yourself pretty easily.)

How is the rest of your laundry drying? If your dryer in general is getting sluggish, you might try double checking that there isn't a lint build up somewhere.

Add Dryers balls and dry towels to your dryer. I use a mix of prefolds, pockets and AIO's and everything usually gets dry in one cycle when I add two dry towels, and 3-4 dryer balls. Occasionally one or two or my AIO's will be slightly damp in the thickest part, but then I hang them up and they're finished in an hour or two. I use 2 nice thick white cotton towels that I keep in the laundry room specifically for this purpose. Presently I have plastic (yuck) dryer balls, but I want, and would recommend, getting or if your crafty making wool dryer balls. I also recommend towel trick for your other laundry as well- it will cut down the dry time significantly. Don't use brand new towels for this because you'll get towel fuzz on everything.

This helped a LOT. Takes two full dry cycles but that's how long my inserts take anyway so it's no extra work. Yay! So glad. I really am loving these diapers but 4 dry cycles was NOT going to cut it.

Just a thought - you might try using the timed dry function of your dryer, rather than the "very dry" type cycles that use a sensor? I found that when I used the sensor cycles, I'd get wet diapers at the end - I think the PUL/synthetic components of the diapers give a sort of false dry reading, causing the dryer to finish up its cycle before everything is really dry. Instead, I set the dryer to dry on high for 60 minutes, which always gives me dry diapers - usually a mix of prefolds, cotton fitteds, and BG pockets.

I had the same problem and just started hang drying mine. They still take 2 days on the line, but its cheaper. Some day I'll try these hints, awesome!
