For instance, it is clearly well-documented, each year in fact, that the influenza vaccine, when administered to people, elicits an immune response and increased antibody production against the proteins in the vaccine. However, and less widely discussed, there are also multiple studies (Thompson WW, et al. 2003, Thompson WW et al. 2004, Simonsen L, et al. 2005) that have shown that, despite the vaccine induced immune response, hospitalization rates and death rates from influenza have either been unchanged or actually increased over the same time frame that influenza vaccination became established practice.
