evap line fun

So I'm having my first obsessive testing episode in a while Yesterday and the day before I took two cheapo tests of some generic brand and got what looked like two faint but definitely there positives (pink dye). Because they were so faint, I decided to get a First Response just to be sure. I took that one this morning and it looked negative in the 10 minutes. There was *something* but I was pretty sure it was just an evap line. BUT THEN I made the fatal mistake of looking at the test again about 4 hours later and *there was a definite pink line*. Not even faint, and definitely pink. Argh!!! So help me ladies, is an evap line ever pink? Should I waste more of my limited money on more tests or just accept the initial negative result of the FR?

If you've gotten two positives why would you just accept the "negative" FRER (it was an EARLY result right)? I'd get more cheap ones and take them (yes, plural lol) and if the line was better I'd get another FRER. One "negative" test doesn't mean anything especially not with other positive ones And yes, evaps can be pink, they usually aren't but that long after the time limit it happen more often.

I agree -- get more cheap ones. How many dpo are you?

Hmm, maybe I should get more cheap ones after all. This result made me think I'm just crazy and was imagining the other lines somehow, but maybe I wasn't.
Oh yes, I realized it wasn't actually a FR, it was a European brand called First Signal that claims to be able to detect 10 units of hcg per ml, so pretty darn sensitive, which is why I thought if it was negative then I must have been imagining the lines on the other tests or maybe they were defective since they're so cheap. Though I'm pretty sure I wasn't. Oh the mind games of poas!
I don't know how many dpo I am actually. The thing is, my cycles have been 21 days long for a few months now and a few days before I was expecting af I started spotting. The spotting continued for 5 days and now has stopped, which is what made me suspect pregnancy. But I suppose it could also be that I'm just not ovulating at all and that's why I've been having such short cycles with almost no pms (which is weird for me). Argh. I think I will take your advice ladies and get more cheap tests.

I would in a heartbeat if I just had a working camera! I will let you ladies know how it turns out when I test again...

My frer's were pretty faint at first... really faint. When they would first come up they were like a grey line and then as the test dried they became more pink. At first I thought they were evaps, too.

Here's a pic of my early frers

I would get more cheap tests and see if the line gets any darker, if it does then go get yourself a digital test!

Same for me

http://canyouseealine.com/hpts/5152.jpg was my first positive FRER

I was getting lines on ICs before then that I couldn't 100% tell were actual lines either. By a few days later every test I took was obvious (well except the clearblue digital, that took FOREVER to go to pregnant, but First Response digital was positive just two days after that FRER i just linked...)

Ooo thanks for the pics! Now I have more hope. I didn't get to the store before bed yesterday but am going to pick up some more of the cheapies today and test tomorrow morning.

Well, I tested and got another faint but there line. I am a bit pessimistic because it looks pretty much like the other lines and I'm not sure if it's grey or pink. I'm starting to think this test just has a strong evap line (though I did see it before the time limit)... I wish I had a camera so I could ask your opinions! Anyway, I will probably use up the other test (they come in a 2 pack) tomorrow but if it keeps looking like this one I'm not optimistic. And why would I get a line on these cheap ones and not on a super sensitive one (except the pink evap)? It makes no sense

Thank you!! I pretty much decided they were evaps after spending way too much time scrutinizing yesterday's tests. I don't feel pregnant and the lines were just so faint that I think I was just squinting them into existence. Now I just started charting though so I have something else to hold my attention!
