where to start?

I want to make some cds as a shower gift for a friend, but am nervous. I cd my 16 month old, so things for her size (21 lbs) would be good too. I have limited funds, and my fabric source would most likely be joanns, walmart, and/or goodwill. I don't really know where to start- suggestions? I'll say I'm an intermediate sewer and a visual learner. TIA

Here is a vidio it is a fitted style diaper not sure what your wanting to make, but if you look on you tube under how to make a cloth diaper there are a few that pop up.

In the vidio she said it was easy so hopefully it is, I didn't watch the whole thing.

Mine were not exactly beautiful, but I made 40 diapers from old clothes and towels. I just cut everything into baby-sized rectangular shapes and sewed them together until they seemed thick enough. If you used gorgeous fabric, they could turn out really nice.
