i'm 8 wks pp pumping full time, havent had my af yet, well i bled for 4 wks then nothing for a week then bled for 1 day so i dont think it was af, if i became pregnant how would i determine due date since i dont know if i have ovulated or how often i should take a hpt?

Are you purposely TTC? I personally would wait a few months (or better yet - a year) to let my body heal and to give the baby as much breastmilk as possible.

You should chart your morning temperatures to see if you're even fertile yet. Get the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility - it tells you everything you need to know about charting.

if you are still pumping full time and havent gotten AF, its not likely your fertility will come back until you start cutting down on it. but I agree, you should start charting, that way you know if your fertility does start to return.

well actually i dont know if my pumping is considered full time, i pump all day till about 10 pm when i go to bed and dont pump again until about 5am when baby wakes me up so it's kinda a long in between but i dont know how much those hours will affect fertility

Any bleeding before the 56th day postpartum is considered a PP bleed, not AF. It's unlikely you're fertile yet, although certainly not impossible.

If you did get pregnant and didn't know the Ov date (which happens all the time to people who get pregnant not TTCing!) they would do an early ultrasound to determine the DD.

HTH!

Yup...early ultrasounds would do the trick.

I tend to "need" an early u/s myself, for O'ing late. Because going by LMP will give me a significantly earlier due date that should be...and well, I don't want that! And it seems like most doctors don't know which patients know their bodies well enough to know when O is and which patients think they know...so, an early u/s puts that discussion to rest of, "I know I didn't O until x date!"

Anyway, yup, early u/s!
