I am looking for pregnancy books for my kids, mainly my 3 and 5 year olds. I looked at Barnes & Noble, and was disappointed that everything they had was just, "Mommy's tummy will get big, she may eat a lot, then she will go to the doctor and bring home your new brother or sister!" Some of them had ONE PAGE with maybe three or four drawings of developing babies.
This is what I am looking for (doesn't have to be one book):
* Info about fetal development. At least monthly drawings of the developing baby with info. This is baby number 8, and even my 3 year old has a younger brother, so they know I'm gonna get "fat and cranky" (a joke my dh and oldest son have been making, LOL), but they don't know all the inner workings. I prefer illustrations because I think they're easier to make out than photos.
* But without sex info. I'm not a prude, I just prefer to present pregnancy first, and teach about sex in my own way.
* Info about midwives and homebirth. Only one of my kids was born at home, and this one won't be, but I want my kids to know about it. Maybe something that says, "Some mommies have to go to the doctor for special reasons, but most mommies can have their babies at home with a midwife." Or something like that. It would be especially good if there was a book that showed "abnormal" births that were still at home, like a breech birth. The one book we have right now says that breech is a reason for a c-section. I usually stop there and tell my 5 yo about how she was footling breech and born at home.
