I'm so excited to start my stash! I'm finally wrapping my head around the different types and am now looking at the brands.

I think we'll be going with AIO/pocket types. I think this will be easiest for Dh to get the hang of and I'm not splurging on some other things...crib, changing table, etc....so I don't feel bad spending the extra money on them.

My questions...

Are one size really one size from newborn to pottylearning?

Are there any brands and just suck?

Are there any brands that everyone loves?

Is it best to get a sample pack of different brands...say like 24 diapers....use them for a few days when the baby gets here and then pick my favorite and buy a large number of that brand?



I'm going to keep looking at the threads here to figure it all out.

No. Most OS dipes will not fit a NB. And I doubt you'll ever find a dipe that everybody loves. A lot depends on the size/shape of the baby. Best advice is make general decisions now and expect that you'll have to fine tune it later.

For us that meant I chose fitteds/covers, natural fibers, organic up front. Then I bought 1-3 dipes of almost a dozen different brands. Some of those got used twice, some languished until he started filling out, some we used until he outgrew and some we still use every day. As he moves out of the smalls and into the mediums, I know which ones we like/dislike, which ones to avoid and which ones to buy more of. I could have resold what we have and bought all one brand for the smalls, but I don't believe in having one brand of dipes for every purpose.

If you are looking for a pocket OS that will fit a newborn, I would suggest trying a rumparooz.

We use a mix of rumparooz, and prefolds with soakers.

It was a little bulky on him, but totally workable.
