Twin sleeping arrangements and crib question

So we are planning to sidecar a crib to our bed from the outset. We only have a double bed so we'll need the extra room and I want them near me.

So are all cribs safe with only 3 sides? This is the one we are getting as a hand-me-down http://www.potterybarnkids.com/produ...b/?pkey=bcribs

It will be secured between our bed and the wall, but just looking for any research about cribs with a side removed and subsequent safety stats.

TIA!

No one? Is this a stupid question?

I can't attest to the safety of a crib sidecar, but we do it with our two. We decided to buy a used crib that could convert into a toddler bed. That way we knew it was built to be strong without the sides. It's worked so far, but our big boys are rapidly outgrowing it at 3 months old and we may have to do something different.
