we had a free support group of breastfeeding councellors, they visited in hospitals and at home and ran free drop in play groups where you could meet other mums and rang everyone every few weeks to check how you were getting on and give advice and warnings about growth spurts and they just lost their funding and will close at the end of june
my councellor came to my house the day after i had dd who is my second child and talked to me, gave me free nipple cream because i was sore and talked me through it all, i know many of my friends wouldnt have managed without them (i'm too stubborn to quit
)
in an area where my health visitor can say that i am her only breastfeeding mum and my midwife has never had a pregnant breastfeeder (we had a nice chat about tandem feeding) i think we need all the help we can get
