2 1/2 year old DD was diagnosed with bronchitis today. She (and her siblings) have been passing colds all winter. Literally, someone has been coughing for the last six months. I think we're are on our 8th or 9th cold. I'm a little nutty.
Anyway, the doc prescribed anti-biotics. However, on doing research, I understand they only work with bacteria, not viruses. Her siblings do not have bronchitis. She doesn't seem to have the symptoms of bacterial bronchitis: she acts fine, has only a few coughing fits a day, no fever. But since she has been coughing off and on for about six months and because she is so young, I wonder if that's why she was prescribed anti-biotics. I'm really stumped as to what to do.
BTW, she has never taken anti-biotics. And we have tried EVERYTHING natural I can think of. I wonder in the back of my head if it's pertussis...
Can anyone help me out on this???
