Help. Ds is having alot of stomach cramping and trouble with bowel movements. He is managing to poop, but after much pain (breaking a sweat with lots of tears). This has been going on for over a day and I am not sure what to do. He is BF and eating solids. Allergic to dairy and nuts. Anything natural that I can give him to help?

The most important thing is to prevent pain during a BM. They will remember and start witholding their stool. Once that starts its a vicious cycle that is hard to beat. I know from personal experience. I give my DD a supository if she has gone more than 3 days without a poo. I give her 1/2 tsp benefiber in her drink every morning. It makes her gassy but at least she can poop for the most part. Toddler constipation is such a PITA. I have been dealing with this for months and months.

She never really liked prunes or prune juice but I heard the Sunsweet brand prunes were particularily tasty so I thought I would give them a try. She has been eating 1 with breakfast for the past 3 days now. I hope this is another thing that helps her.

DD had this problem too! It was painful for me as well just watching her. I took her for a chiropractic adjustment and the problem just went away after that. I wish I had tried it months earlier.

I second probiotics, which helped DS when he was about the same age.

I hope everything comes out alright very soon!!! It's no fun!
