Help Me Find A Cloth Solution For 3 Yr Old at Night

My 3 year old son is completely potty trained...while he is awake. He wets the bed every night. I am not too surprised as I was a bed wetter (till quite late) and so was my younger brother. Right now we use sposies: Night time pull-ups. I find other brands leak--he's a slim guy. I'd like to find a cloth alternative if there is one.

If possible, it would be best to find something that is not a "diaper" (something he associates with babies) but a pull-on type arrangement. More like undies. Is there anything out there like that?

I have some cloth dipes that a friend loaned me but he has outgrown them all now. He's 33.5 pounds and the biggest dipes we have max out at 30 pounds. But honestly, they've been uncomfortable for him for a few months already.

There are a bunch of great cloth training pants that you can try. Imse Vimse and Bummis both have waterproof versions although they probably wont keep the bed dry if he is a heavy wetter.

You could also try non-waterproof trainers with a wool or other waterproof pad underneath him.

You could always top off the imse vimse or bummis with a pair of pajama like wool longies or shorties! Or if you don't like wool, a fleece version.

We're using the Happy Heiny cloth pull-ups (my dd is 40 lbs) with two inserts, I've also recently been looking at these.

Ditto the Happy Heiny's! DS1 is also 3 and a very heavy wetter. I use two microfleece liners, or 1 hemp against the skin, and NEVER any leaks! It's a little bulky, but he loves his undies...

dunno if this will help or not, but with my DD we take her to the bathroom when we go to bed (around 11 - like 3 hrs after her bedtime) and she pees and then can make it through the night. We used imse vimse trainers under wool before we started doing that.

We put a waterproof crib pad, under a thick towel, under the fitted sheet. Under the crib pad is a nice fresh fitted sheet- so if there's a mid-night accident that soaks the bed, I can just strip off all the wet and the bed's ready to be slept in. Also, I had great luck with the gerber waterproof training pants. I got them at target and they were only like $7 for a 2-pack.

We have this same problem with our 3.5 dd. We take her to the potty when we go to bed but yup she is still wet every morning. We are using pullups as well because the cloth training pants do not seem to be made to hold any amount of pee but more to encourage training (which doesn't help with this at night stuff! lol) She hates wearing the pullups and wants to be in her panties (she has been fully day trained for over a year). I am just so at my wits end over this!

I'm in the same boat. For my DD, who will be 4 in about 2 months (and weighs about the same if not more than your DS), I use Fuzzi Bunz in size large on her at night. She hates that they are a diaper, since she's been day-time trained for quite a while now. But, I snap the diaper before she puts it on and then she pulls it up herself, like underwear. It works pretty well--no leaks, and she tolerates it since she can pull it up herself so it's more like underwear. We call it her big-girl night-time pull-up. And I can stuff it with just the right amount of absorbancy, which in her case is a trifolded pf and a hemp insert.

We've used both happy heiney's pocket trainers and starbunz superundies. Size-wise, if you've got a more petite kid the superundies will work out fine, and the happy heiney's are good for a less-petite kid (dd also says they're fuzzier).

The Imse Vimse will not work. Great training pants and contain poop really well but they aren't particularly absorbant for pee. In fact, none of the cloth training pants are going to work because they all do the same thing (unless you are trying to train him to wake up when it happens and go to the bathroom). But if you are trying to get through the night by containing the pee, none will work.

We had the same problem with my DD, and I did find a solution that worked, but it's kind of strange: gDiaper inserts, either in a pocket trainer (like Happy Heiny) or just laid on top of a regular cloth trainer. They're super absorbent but they're flushable (or compostable), so I didn't feel guilty about using them. I know some people here don't like them, but they worked great for us. I would sometimes use two inserts or use one microfleece soaker and one gDiaper. Put wool jammies or a soaker on top, and we rarely if ever had leaks.

firefly dipers are very absorbant. i psted the same thing a few years ago and that was what i was suggeste d . it worked great!
