Natural Remedies for Sinus Infection in 4 y/o

DD had the flu. She seemed as though she was getting better-just has a lingering cough and some congestion. Today, 11 days after she got sick, she got another fever and said her sinuses are hurting. Are there any natural remedies you would use to ease symptoms of a sinus infection? I really don't want to give her more anti-biotics, but want her to be better soon. If she doesn't start feeling better, I will call her pediatrician. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thank you in advance!

my dd has really bad allergies and her sinuses get really bad. i give her ginsing. i have used many forms but love the dried roots that i boil up and she drinks that. everyone else including my ds 3.5 have allergies and take it. for my allergies it is daily. it is even taken when sick and having sinus problems

my ds's lung doctor recommended sinus rinsing for him and it works great. He used to go on antibiotics for his chronic infections but we have avoided them completely this last year. Just make sure and get the pediatric version, they have them at walgreens. http://www.neilmed.com/usa/index.php

I second the sinus rinsing. ABX are not needed for Sinus infections!

we use this

So how do you guys get your child to do the sinus rinsing?

My son is 2.5 and gets lots of sinus infections. But to do this I would basically have to hold him down while he is screaming (something I am NOT comfortable with).

see my above post....this stuff is amazing. It's a mist and so easy to use...you can use it on a newborn to an adult. A netti pot or other rinsing type of aparatus is not for everyone. I tried others b4 I found this with DS who freaked out. He doesn't mind this at all!

Interesting!

I watched the video and I think he might go for this.

But really, is this different than the saline in the bottles? Is the spray somehow more targeted?

Saline sprays are good -- for sure. But I am not totally convinced this will get the saline up in the sinuses and really wash the way a netti pot would...

What do you think? I am desperate for anything because I used to use the Simply Saline spray -- but DS is allergic to corn and reacts every time I use that. I like that you could mix your own saline solution with this product.

Thanks for the input. I have a neti-pot, but DD won't go near it. I will have to check into the other stuff. I will also look into the ginsing. She is feeling a bit better today-no fever (yay!) but still isn't feel great and is so congested and has sinus pain.
