Mastitis AND yeast infection! Now what?

I just finished taking a couple diflucan for a yeast infection and now I have mastitis-which is weird because I never even felt like I had a clogged duct, but it was a severe case by the time I knew I had it. My midwife put me on a 10-day antibiotic regimen to get rid of that. I'm only 36 hours into my antibiotics and my mastitis symptoms are just about gone, but my yeast infection symptoms seem to be back. I know I'm at a higher risk for yeast infections while on an antibiotic, so I've been eating yogurt. I'm assuming the yeast infection wasn't completely gone when I got mastitis (since I took just my second diflucan a couple days before the mastitis kicked in). What else can I do to get rid of the yeast infection and/or keep it away? I don't really know what to do since treating one will only intensify the other, but I have to treat the mastitis with something more than the ginger root, echinacea, etc that I would normally do I really don't want the yeast infection to get bad enough to transfer over to baby...

For mastitis I always recommend hot compresses and nurse nurse nurse as much as you can, when I mention hot compresses I mean really hot, as hot as you can stand without burning yourself this melts down the block and then by nursing it then drains it, so try, if possible to get baby's chin pointing to the red inflamed area and nurse - this may involve some gymnastics but normally by lying down on the double bed with baby pointing in the correct direction normally fixes it, for the thrush have you tried apple cider vinegar, swabbing before nursing and after so some of it gets into your baby's mouth and will stop contaminating you both again, also Oregano capsules are very effective as the plant is anti-fungal; hope that you manage to find a solution and this has helped alittle.

I'd check out Dr Jack Newman's candida protocol--just google it--it really saved me when I had both mastitis and yeast. I was a big fan of the GSE extract and using vinegar to keep everything clean (in the laundry etc).

Since that first mastitis for which I took antibiotics, I have successfully treated another one (albeit not as severe) with hot compresses, constant nursing, oregeno, and loads of Vit C.
