What do you do with the cream on the top of the milk?

When I had little kids, I just shook it up, and they drank it, but now having bigger kids, and having seen commercial milk, this doesn't fly anymore...so anyone else skim off the cream?

Some things I do are to add it to homemade mac and cheese, it makes it soooo creamy (excuse the pun)

Also I add it to my Alfredo sauce, or to veggies with some Parmesan cheese.

no way. it's so yummy, it's the best part of the milk!

When you shake it, does it go back together, because no matter how much I shake it it still leaves little chunks behind, and this is what bothers the big kids. They think something is wrong with it. (my oldest got bad milk at school once and it was chunky)

Personally, it isn't a problem with me, but they won't drink it unless all chunkies are gone.

you know, with raw milk, I find it does mix in quite easily. Not so with pasturized milk, but I think it's actually the difference between the containers. raw milk I get always comes in a mason jar, not in one of those glass jars with a plastic cap. they never seal tight enough, so you can't shake it enough without it spilling all over, and that's what the pasturized milk comes in.

I think it is the mason jar and being able to shake it REALLY firmly, because the raw milk in the glass jar with a plastic top has a hard time mixing thouroughly.

I'd try decanting your milk into a glass container or other container whose lid will shut tight, and then you can really shake the heck out of it.

I feel your oldest on that one, I've had bad pasturized milk before and it is so chunky and gross.

I'll put it in a jar, and try giving it another go. I even have 1/2 gallon mason jars We get "gently pasturized" milk here in Delaware, no raw unfortunatly. The raw milk black market is insane around here. I'm not willing to drive to Pennsylvania to get it legally, so I get the best available here. It is still organic and not homogenized, and yes it comes in the glass jug with the plastic cap
