REALLY dry skin (on me)

I've always hated creams and lotions, and really put off using them on my skin - just never liked the feel of them. I will begrudgingly put some on when it gets really bad. However....lately my legs are so dry that the skin looks almost cracked. I went to workout the other day, and was totally embarrassed by the looks of my legs (I had meant to moisturize before but forgot).

What's a fantastic 'repair' remedy for really dry skin? Will the cracked look ever go away? (This is the first time I've seen it like this)

Ahhh..

Well, keeping your house more humid can help (humidifier). Omega 3 fish oil pills and lots of water help too. You could try some olive oil or another type of oil topically, perhaps mixed with a little bit of water for a thinner feel.

What "I" do for super-dry skin is use Aquaphor ointment. It feels awful, though, and has parabens. But it's extremely effective.

Omega-3's and my magic lotion is Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream. The stuff in the jar is good enough for my legs, elbows, etc., but only the tube works for my hands. Don't ask me why b/c they have the exact same ingredients. This is the only lotion I've found that actually adds moisture to my skin. All the others I've tried only last as long as they actually stay present on the skin surface. But the Omega-3's really help keep the dryness at a minimum to begin with.
