I'm going to cry

Thread Starter
I had a gel ink pen explode in the dryer. There's in all over everything...including two of DH's dress shirts that we JUST bought. I tried blotting with alcohol and rewashing and it did NOTHING.

I'm so frustrated I could cry right now. It's just one more thing on top of a stressful few days (with little sleep) AND I'm late so there's hormones involved too.

What about soaking in OxiClean?

Or hairspray? I've heard hairspray is supposed to take out ink (I don't know about gel ink though)

what about Goo Gone or Goof Off or one of those types of cleaners? that stinks! at least now you will probably NEVER make that error again! hug if the shirts are ruined, maybe you can make grocery bags or tie dye stuff or the kids or something to salvage them a bit... sorry that happened! its definitely irritating.

maybe call the pen manufacturer or look online for how to remove "... brand of pen ink..."

I agree with the oxyclean, fill the sink or washer with straight hot water and let soak over night then start the cycle in the am. DD got sharpi on a new shirt of mine last night, all over the back A smaller caliber but kinda feel your pain.

I think you will be able to get it out though. Hugs to you hope you get some sleep and your day turns around.

I normally remove ink stains with nailpolish remover. Never tried it on gel pens but it may be worth a try if you have some around.

I've had good luck getting ink stains out with an old fashioned stain remover called Lestoil. It smells horribly, but it works well. I bought it at Ace Hardware.

i've used oxygen cleaner on it and it's come out fine. so if you have some, that's a good option!

Try RIT dye remover. It fixed dh's work shirts when nothing else would.
