Tiny Underwear?

I have a 3.5 month old who's been ECing since birth. We're doing really well I'd like him to go diaper free a few hours a day. However,he still gets skid marks if he needs to poop, so I'd like to keep him in underpants.

Instead of buying expensive specialized EC underpants or sewing some (I don't sew!) I was wondering if anyone knew of a brand in which the toddler sizes ran small. My son is about 15 lbs now and not very chubby. Any recommendations?

Thanks!
Amy

For a baby that tiny, I'd see about checking thrift stores for the little bloomers that come with girls' dresses.

my boy is about that age also, 13 weeks. he leaks too. He usually spends his diaper free time laying on a prefold. of course we still have to wash it usually. i guess you asked about undies though sorry.

Can you tell me how it's going with catching pee for you? i feel like my boy just turns the faucet off and on--like he never really empties his bladder. i have never consistently caught pees. i'll catch one but then he pees again 3 minutes later. Off topic, sorry.. i'm a little desperate to talk to someone with the same age boy who might be having the same issue.

specifically underpants - these are slightly large i think (19-24lbs) http://www.amazon.com/Potty-Patty-Tr...9051048&sr=8-8

ecaPants - http://www.ecawarebaby.com/
also http://www.ecwear.com/ was at the top of the page, they have underwear and training pants listed on the side bar....

Have you tried buying some regular cotton undies at Target or wherever and washing them a few times in hot water and drying. I am amazed at how much they shrink.

I love the tiny undies from the ec store
but also have used the little bloomers for dresses.
You could get the NB or 0-3M size. They have gender neutral ones that would work great for a boy. I purchased mine for about .50 a piece at various thrift stores.

Thanks ladies! I will have to check out the local thrift shop for bloomers. What will my husband say when he sees our son sporting pink skivvies?

anarchamom: As for the 1/2 way pees, he does this with my husband only for some reason. I've started singing and it seems to relax him enough to empty himself. Maybe my son is just weird! If you're ever in a public bathroom and hear someone singing, "Doe, a deer, a female deer..." that would be me

When he wakes up I take him every 20 minutes about 4 times. Then he can go from 30-40 minutes. On good days I have about 2 misses and on bad days 5+. I usually go by the clock since he only seems to fuss after he has peed. At night he fusses to wake me up and take him to the toilet.

All I can say is at least he's peeing half way for you. The main thing is you're communicating no matter how many accidents he has. I wish I could offer you more advice! Hang in there

Ours are just now starting to fit my 23.5 lbs 19 month old. Mind you more of a brief-cut might have fit smaller.

My little guy is the same age, and I've been using his big sister's size 2T Gerber padded training pants (not waterproof, 3 pack is about $5). They're big, but work for the skid mark thing. The Okie Dokie brand from JC Penney is good too and a bit smaller than Gerber. Another plus is when you want to waterproof it's easy to just put a diaper cover on top. It will hold a pee for a baby this age (mine, anyway).

I totally agree with bloomers. I found tons in the thrift stores, very cheap, no one wants them once separated from the dresses. Surprisingly, many of them were yellow, blue, and green. Also, the soft, snug shorts that come with summer pajama sets work fine as undies. It's also ok to dress a toddler in soft comfortable pants with nothing underneath.
