My 7 yo dd came home with her progress report from 1st grade and one of the sections has to do with behavior. They use a red light yellow light, green light system and the comment said that she kept her behavior card on green light almost always, but it was moved once for talking loudly in the hallway. Okay, so totally not a big deal at all. She is in a class with 6 other students and it's a great group all around, no problems. The kids have all been together since their toddler days in the schools daycare. Yeah, I bet they got rowdy one day, again no big deal to me or her teacher. You have thought she was getting expelled from the way she reacted. She kept apologizing and saying her stomach was hurting because she was so upset with herself....She was just so, so, so sorry and she'll do better...on and on....I told her to chill out, it wasn't a big deal, I know her teacher adores her, just tried to reassure her that I knew she was a good kid. She is so super critical of herself and is a perfectionist and I don't want this to go on anymore....what should I say to her to make her understand that no one is perfect and we all mess up?
