Just started with 12 month old - Questions

I just started ECing/early potty learning with my now 12 month DD. The first week things went really well, I always catch her poos, and she would sit post nap and about every two hours -- we had a lot of success. But now, she is really fussing when I try to put her on the potty -- arching her back and crying. Should I back off for awhile? Just leave her diaper free and change her when we have a miss? Any advice for a late starter?

I really dont have a lot to offer you on this topic but support. I too just started EC & early potty learning with my now 13m old, she has been at it for 3 weeks and is doing really well. She had a spell about a week in where she was fighting the potty as well. I found it helped to lay off it a bit even if it meant she had a few more misses, and then within a couple days she was fine again. I do try to keep fun stuff around the potty to do, a ball & cup, a mirror toy, etc. Hope things settle down for you!

Also no advice, also just starting with my 12 mo.
We're about to make the leap to diaperless/cloth diapers during the days.
He will sit on the potty for a while, but we've only caught one pee.
We keep some small board books and finger puppets in a basket by his potty.
Keeps him calm and preoccupied.

It can actually be a good sign. That she's getting the connection between the potty and eliminating and refusing when she doesn't need to go.

If you're pretty sure she needs to go, try

getting her to giggle first
nursing/letting her suck on something
running water
standing her in the bath tub
going outside
singing a song
tickling under the belly button
giving her a cup of water
putting the potty near something interesting (e.g. blocks she can stack while sitting on the potty, or a window, or a pet, or your phone)
