Pertussis in 3 month old?

My infant started with congestion this morning and now has a cough that sounds like pertussis. What now? Is there anything I can do to make him better? I have two other older children. One vax'd, the other one (a toddler) is not. What can I do for them to keep them well? I need info! Thanks!

Hope your babe is doing better by now. Humidify the room, if the coughing gets bad humidify the bathroom by running the shower with the door closed, but worst case scenario you'll have to bring him/her in for treatment and cool mist humidification as that barking sound comes from the narrowing of an already narrow airway. If the baby seems to be in any distress call your ped or if you get scared, go to an ER.

From what I remember reading about Pertussis, I think that the cough is usually preceded by a cold of about 14 days. I could be remembering incorrectly though. Could it be croup? Not really sure on treatments other than increasing vitamin c, which you could do yourself if you are breastfeeding. I hope you LO feels better soon.
