homemade detangler

Thread Starter
I am looking to make a detangler for my daughters very long curly hair...to easy the process of brushing. My mom used a high chem conditioner on her and it worked wonders...but I am not pleased with the ingredients.

I am hoping there are things in my kitchen cabinet I can use...veganaise? avocado?

help!!!

Considering conditioner is nothing but moisturizer for your hair, i'd suggest something along those lines: lotion, perhaps...whipped shea. I guess you'd have to watch how much you use of any oil, though.

My first thought, when reading your title was to mix conditioner or lotion, half and half, in a spray bottle.

There are organic, natural conditioners; i use Desert Essence Tea Tree Conditioner sometimes. Hope that was some help.

We use apple cider vinegar diluted with water in a spray bottle. It stinks to high heaven but the smell goes away after it dries. Also, we always wash with a natural shampoo bar and then do an apple cider vinegar infused with rosemary rinse afterwards to keep my DD's hair tangle free.

I've had to play around with the amount since too much makes her hair dried out, but I think we do about a tablespoon per 8 ounces of water (I kind of eyeball it).

its not a spray, but I have thick, curly hair and I did a hair treatment that has left me tangle free for days. I was able to french braid my hair dry today without a brush! (that NEVER happens)

The treatment is avocado, honey, jojoba, olive oil, egg... i think thats it! I massage it all through the hair and scalp, leave it on until you're sick of smelling like guacamole, and then rinse with hot water. my hair was super tangled rats nest when I put it on, and it brushed out soooo smooth after rinsing and its still not tangled, even after having my hair down and curly two days later.

ETA:
day three and my hair is still silky smooth and I can run my fingers through it (i kid you not, before I put it in, I practically had one big dred in the back!)

I know this is an old thread but I am going to start using a rosemary infusion to dilute acv and add a few drops of eo to make a spray on my dd's hair because on the days she doesn't wash it it is one big rat. If this doesn't work I will check back to use some other ideas and maybe even buy some type of product for her!
