You being out of the house for an hour or two occasionally isn't going to affect her weight gain.

Have more confidence in your dh. Let your dh know you're so sorry his grandmother is ill and how it's making him sad. And then cheerfully hand him the baby and go. Given the opportunity he will be able to rise to the occasion. He can parent his daughter on his own even though he's sad for his grandmother.
