Did you find it worked?

Considering all options here

My Mom was given beer in the hospital when she had me. She was underage at the time so she thought it was pretty strange they were encouraging her to drink!

Never tried it myself though.

This made me smile! My greatly missed grandmother always said that beer increases your milk supply!

I didn't do it, but I think they recommend beers like Guinness.

My mw recommended Guinness. I tried it but didn't find it useful. (I don't normally drink alcohol and it made me feel fuzzy. Not good when I was already sleep-deprived and depressed.) If you want to try it, you can use non-alcoholic beer, it turns out. A dark beer is apparently best.

I did try dark beer - Guinness.
I enjoyed it however I did not notice much of an increase and after 5-7 days, DD sprouted Excema. I stopped the beer and used a natural cream on her spots and three days later Excema spots faded and a week later they were gone.

No more beer for me until DD is weaned.

I did try dark beer s couple times and noticed that my baby slept longer. Can't be 100% on this but it did happen when I had dark beer.

Here in Germany the midwives and doctors all recomended about 8 oz of Weiss beer a day, like a Heffeweissen in the states. Lagers are NOT recommended.

The label on Samuel Smith Oatmeal Stout claims that oatmeal stouts were originally intended for lactating mothers It did seem to boost my supply slightly, but more importantly it's tasty!

i always heard about beer being good for milk, but my mom told me that it was more about relaxing than the actual properties of the beer. i have to say this has been my experience. when tziporah was in the NICU, i was having a terrible time getting my supply to keep up with her (this was day 9 or so... my milk had been in for a few days already)... that night my husband and i went to a really good restaurant for dinner instead of the tinned soup and toast we'd been living on so far. i had my first beer in months, got a little teary-eyed/giggly about how crazy it was that we were eating a nice dinner in a restaurant 9 days PP, and when i got back to the hospital, i promptly pumped my first 5 oz bottle ever. now i have a beer with dinner fairly frequently, and i always get a let down just as i'm starting to feel nice and relaxed from the beer.

ps i drink mostly dark and amber types, plus some guiness here and there.

I was drinking a beer a day until we got thrush... I have a massive milk supply this time around, but I think my milk supply is linked more to water consumption rather than a Guinness or wonderful Honey Brown a day.
