Charles Antonio arrived on 3/16 (41 weeks, 1 day). He weighed 8 lbs. 11 oz. He was born more than 36 hours after my water broke (with "moderate meconium -- lime green), after about 17 hrs. of painful but not productive prodromal labor (with no real rest) and 4 hours of pit. After a two hour long precipitous labor last time, the labor was totally unexpected. Once the pit really took effect, though, I went from 6 cm to pushing in about half an hour. Ouch. apgars were 9/9, so there were no ill effects from the mec.
I'm NAK but I'll just say that between the prolonged rupture of membranes and the mec I'm just so grateful to have birthed where I did. I suspect that the combination of factors would have probably earned me a transfer with a lot of homebirth midwives, and at a lot of hospitals I would have been induced much sooner. Instead, I was given a lot of freedom to chose how I wanted to proceed and when I decided I wanted to try the pit I felt like it was conscious decision (after waiting for labor and trying a couple of hours of nipple stimulation) that I made independently and without pressure so I don't have any mixed feeling about how it turned out or about what could have been.

I love that you had such caring providers and a supportive birth environment
