It's kind of complicated and confusing at first, but there is some great info here:

You basically use manufacturer's coupons with store sales and "Extra Care Bucks" to get free stuff. There is a learning curve, but it works!

I almost never pay out of pocket at cvs - you need to follow the sales - either at a blog or a message board... a good blog is iheartcvs - a good message board is hotcouponworld
I get medicine, razors, body wash, and shampoo/conditioner mostly... and milk is almost always the best price there too
