DPD Question

I read through some of the posts of FAQ's, but I didn't see the answer to my question...

Is there any risk to an unborn fetus while taking this drug?

Basically, I'm afraid of getting prego while taking this. Though, my chances are reduced while bf'ing, I'm pretty sure I'm ovulating (for the first time since giving birth) at the moment...and we just dtd last night!

Thanks in advance!

Motherisk seems to think it is OK. Hale's book has no pregancy risk info.

"Domperidone is used for the treatment of nausea and vomiting of pregnancy in some countries and is considered safe to take in pregnancy, however it is not the first drug of choice for effectiveness." http://www.motherisk.org/women/forum...forums_id=1472

Thanks for the info! Someone else found something on a Q&A of Hale's that says it's a teratogen in animals, but that he hadn't found any research in humans. I guess it's always best to be safe than sorry. I guess we will have to start using protection.... bummer.

Thanks for that info! Motherisk is usually good, but I trust Hale more.

My midwife and doctor both advise against using domperidone while pregnant, because of the lack of studies of the effects on unborn babes.
