Yeast infection (TMI)

I have had a really bad yeast infection for a few days. I tried treating with garlic suppositories for 2 days and taking probiotics. Slightly better after one day, but not letting up. So I used monistat. And it's still not going away. I was so swollen yesterday and it's going down, but is there anything else I can safely use during pregnancy?

are you for certain it is yeast and not BV? I had BV and thought it was another yeast infection, treated it for yeast, then went to the doctor and found out it was BV and was put on an antibiotic for a week. Cleared it right up and I have been fine since.

I've had BV in the past-this is definitely yeast. It hurts like yeast and has only yeast symptoms.

Boric acid suppositories! Really
One in the morning and one before bed

For immediate relief I also use tea tree oil suppositories or just yogurt topically.

My midwife okayed it all

I had a very persistent yeast infection recently for over three weeks; I treated it with various natural stuff (garlic overnight and probiotic suppository during daytime, calendula suppositories, Himalayan V-gel) but nothing worked.

I was getting desperate so I've started researching boric acid, but all I could find was that it is dangerous to use during pregnancy.

Finally I found some really good advice that did the trick in about a week or so (the infection was pretty bad!): use sliced garlic but change it every 4-5 hours max, never be without it until the infection is gone. Yes, this means that you'd have to bear with the constant garlicky smell/taste in your mouth but soon you'd get used to it

If you experience a lot of external itching then the best solution I found (again I've tried a lot of stuff!) is to apply Vitamin E (the drops or the gel) along with TTO (I read that it is not recommended to use it internally while pregnant).

Oh and I forgot to mention, get some cranberry tables and also make sure that you drink cranberry juice often, they really help.

Good luck, I know that YI can be a real pain, it is so distressing to have this to deal with while pregnant

Thank you! I can't find boric acid and am really sick of the garlic smell/taste, but will try the yogurt and tto and vit e externally and tomorrow start back on the garlic. Thanks!

The peeled garlic clove is a vaginal suppository. I would not do it sliced (or scored) the first time; it can sting. But, if it does not sting, you can score it several times and the good, bacteria and yeast-killing juices can get a really good start. YOu will likely taste it within seconds.

Change it every 5-8 hours for at least 3 days or until symptoms are gone. Follow up with probiotics to reestablish good vaginal flora.

When I was pg, I had to do monostat externally, as did DH at one point. He did do TTO, but it made his penis peel (I think he was using it full strength. I told him not to, but .

To avoid the stinging sensation of the sliced garlic (especially externally), I put some coconut oil on my finger before I insert the garlic. CO has anti-fungal properties so it can help you too!

Cold, plain yogurt always provides me with instant relief. Good luck!
