agree with mn on all that.
i was married to an ob/gyn for 13 years and i'm a nurse who worked in a large teaching hospital in labor/delivery and high risk ob for 3 + years. i can promise you ob's don't know much of anything about charting, at least not any of them that i know. that's like chicken soup for a cold- they may not be saying it doesnt work, it's just like a home remedy, what your mama does for you, it's not their area of expertise.
i'm not familiar with ovusoft- did you temp or is it just fertility signs? if you are planning to start trying in a few months, i would recommend you start charting with your next cycle (if you aren't on hormonal bc. if you are on hormonal bc, get off it now so you will be ready to go in a few months, cuz it can take a while to get back to normal!) i think there is a learning curve with charting and temping, and it takes a couple of cycles to figure the whole thing out, and to see a pattern in your cycle. you'll need a bbt thermometer if you dont have one. they sell them at evey drug store.
there are folks who do teach how to recognize cm and cp. there is a fertility awareness method that is very specialized with that, and the name escapes me now. someone here may know it. it started through the catholic church for natural family planning. if you live near a metropolitan area, you can find a practitioner and go and learn very detailed info about it- they, for example, don't just say ewcm, watery, creamy, sticky, they have like 5 specific types of ew, etc. oh, i think it is creighton method.
if you dont do that, i will just say, i find the easiest way to check is while i'm sitting on the toilet. just make sure your hands are clean, and reach up in there as far as you can. when you hit the end, you will find your cervix. you have to, it's a dead end. it's easiest to find usually right after your period or right before, because it may be the lowest and firmest. it will feel like the tip of your nose at that time, and it should not be hard to reach. maybe it would help to look at images of cervixes too- you can google my beautiful cervix- a project where a girl took photos of her cervix every day thru her cycle to see the changes. and cm, it's like the weather rock - if the rock is wet, it is raining... if you pull your fingers out and they are wet, it's watery. if it's stretchy, it's eggwhite- but not everyone has that or has much of it. if you can barely get your fingers in, it's dry. if your fingers look like there is lotion on them, whiteish and thicker, it's creamy.
most of us here on this forum use fertilityfriend.com for charting. they have tons of educational information there. it's free. there's a vip version you get a trial for and then you can pay if you want to keep it, but you dont have to.
i'm sorry if i am telling you all stuff you already know. since i dont know ovusoft, i dont know what you have already done. the women on this forum are also very informed, so you can read old posts and ask questions and they will help you.
i would recommend if you aren't already, start prenatal vits too.
about the re, i dont know. if you think you might want to see one sooner rather than later, you might want to inquire about an appt now, because i know in some areas, it can be 6 months or more to get in, so you may want to find out the procedure for that asap in case. your ob can get you started with basic blood work etc if you haven't done that, like fsh levels and that sort of thing.
hope that helps. good luck!
