Shoot, can't find thread comparing dopplers/fetascopes

I know at one point I read a thread that recommended dopplers or fetascopes for use in UP/UC. Especially those that can also be used under water. Can you point me to it, and/or give opinions? I'm 12 weeks and looking at getting one soon.

Thanks!

I'm sorry no one has answered this! I've been refreshing the page for days, waiting for a response. Someone on another thread recommended http://www.inhishands.com/ for supplies, and they have dopplers, although not sure it's the kind you're looking for. I just checked them out, and my desire to get one waned at seeing the price!

Hope you find what you're looking for. :-)

I was waiting for a response too, lol. I ended up looking in the birth professionals forum. They generally say that of course the huntleigh and elite models are best (and most expensive) but that they've had good results with the sonotrax ones from ebay that are around 100-150$. I have a generic fetascope from cascade that cost like $15-20 and it works well in the third tri but not really until then. Even the good fetascopes won't work until after 20 weeks. I ended up finding a good doppler on my local craigslist to use during labor since I don't think I'll be able to hear with the fetascope myself then. I am just using the fetascope until labor because of the ultrasound exposure.

I got mine off Ebay to be honest so that it was more affordable.
It is a Sonoline b Pocket fetal Doppler
I didn't get it till the end so I can't comment on how early it detects HB. It worked well enough for my purposes though which was really just an occasional HB check during the birth (and some practice beforehand). The problem that I wound up with was that it said on the auction that the probe was waterproof but then the manual said not to place any part of the doppler in the water-but it also mentioned a waterproof probe but it could have come with one of three probes. There was no customer service number and I was afraid to ruin it so I just got out of the water to check the hb.

Thanks for replying! I too shuddered at the prices, and was REALLY hoping I could find one to rent for less, or that one of the $30 options would be great, lol. Thanks, and any further recs are welcome.

This is the one that i intend to rent very soon. I want one with a digital display and this is the most reasonable site i have found with digital displays. You do have to pay return shipping if you are in the continental US, but I can deal with that. This one is $40.00 per month. They have ones for $30.00 per month.
