PLEASE an opinion, take him in yet? Fell playing, now fever

I'm worried, but taking him in I KNOW will cause him to freak out . DS is almost 6, fell in garage and hit his chest/shoulder area on my dads tool box. He cried barely, then later said it was sore. Friday night he in the middle of the night spiked a fever (we were having a slumber party at gram and gramps so didn't have thermometer). I gave him motrin because he seemed to be in so much pain on saturday, fever went on again off again from the motrin. My mom JUST told me saturday afternoon about the fall so not sure if it's related.

The pain today is definately not as bad. But he's still go the fever. It could be cooncidence and two unrelated things. It's sunday and I don't know what to do. We have a new family doc appt in the future for general checkups, but i dont' have a pediatrician ATM

I know the hospital will totally scare him, and they always suggest a battery of tests that will likely be worse for him but I just don't know what to do We are not used to being sick

ETA: his pain is like on his side around his under arm around to the back a little

I can't imagine how a fall would be related to the fever and fever with a child who is otherwise himself is not usually something to worry about. The pain sounds like it's better and I would expect that to continue. If something breaks pain doesn't improve. I don't see anything to worry about here just reading your description but always follow your mother instincts.

I agree with the pp. At most I could see the fever causing the fall (in that if he was already coming down with something he might have been a bit unsteady or wobbly). And fever as you describe wouldn't worry me (well, not entirely true since I worry irrationally about my kids whenever they get sick, but ykwim - it wouldn't worry me enough to visit the dr).

BUT... like the pp said if your mama-radar is sensing that something is seriously wrong then don't ignore it.

Well thanks for posting....actually my mom's version of the story is what bothered me, and DH's weird hangup about the "dangers" of a fever : When I talked with DS, he explained what happened, and he hit around his chest.

He has been mildly constipated which is probably giving him gas, I gave him some natures calm and he went a little and will probably more soon. I know gas can radiate some pretty bad pain. My mom and DH were just freakin me out about like cracked ribs and punctured lungs, apendicitis (totally wrong region of pain), etc.

Also he is VERY intolerant and dramatic also, which only *I* know how to read of course since I'm the mama LOL.

I think we are out of the woods. He took a small nap and his fever is not back I dont' think.

Glad to hear that he's starting to feel better (knock on wood).

And yeah, gas pains can be unbearably painful sometimes (trust me I've been there)!
