If one of the things you liked about Firefly was Nathan Fillion's charms then try Castle.

I've enjoyed The Big Bang Theory, Weeds, Dexter (very gory), Gilmore Girls (more funny than drama IMO), Buffy, Angel, Heroes, Lost, Smallville (the early seasons anyway)...

I'll also put my vote in for Eureka. It's a quirky, cute show.
