For explanation, I think this has to be long. BUT the end result is, my friend is away somewhere in the Andes, unreachable and I don't know if I'm supposed to be feeding her fish!!!!
My friend has a business up the street from us. I have always fed her fish when she's away. This time, she did not contact me to ask before she left. At first I was surprised, but then I remembered she now has a business partner working in her office on evenings and weekends and they are close friends. So I just thought oh, okay, she's taking care of them obviously. However, I just happened to run into this friend at the bus stop. I asked her if she was taking care of the fish. She said no, she was going away and wouldn't be back until next week and that our friend had been e-mailing me to look after them. I told her I didn't have keys, so she gave me hers. But there is NO EMAIL. She called and left a message 2 days before she left (she left on Friday, I think) and there was no mention of fish.
I went to her office and looked at the tank. There is no message about feeding schedule or anything (which she always leaves). The tank looks terrible, full of little snails that I usually remove at her request. I looked around for phone numbers or clues and couldn't find anything. I left a message with my phone number on the tank, asking anyone who's feeding them to call me right away. I also called and e-mailed her business partner, hoping she's checking messages and asking her exactly what friend said.
I'm not sure what kind of fish these are, but they're small and I'm pretty sure tropical. No one will be in the office until at least the end of this week. I know not to over-feed fish, but that's the extent of my knowledge. I noticed contact info for an aquarium place she obviously goes to. Should I contact them?
I've checked my mailbox for keys, in case she left them. Unless she somehow thinks I have a set, or talked to our mutual friend after she gave me HER keys, she KNOWS I don't have a way in to the office.
I don't want to hurt her fish. She's been flaky about communication before, but not THIS flaky. What do I do?
