Are teeth marks okay?

I always assumed the were, because my daughter left teeth marks as soon as she got teeth, until now three years later. They're not very deep but they're there, and I was recently reading that teeth marks mean she's not latching correctly.

Right now I do also have pain, but I blame that on the fact that I'm pregnant.
I did have recurring candidiasis too before, so I did go through some periods of pain, but I blamed it on the candida.

We also had periods of pain free nursing but teeth marks were always there.

Is it normal for some kids to leave marks, or has she been latching the wrong way for over three years. (Is that possible???)

Ds often leaves teeth marks. I find them bothersome but I haven't figured out how to get him to loosen his grip, so to speak. I do think it is incorrect though.

My LOs have left teeth marks on me ever since their top teeth came in. It doesn't hurt, but I do see the marks there. Makes my DH shudder.

My son used to leave teeth marks, he is nearly 2yo now. When it got unbearable I just told him that his nursing was hurting and he needed to be gentle or he was all done.

It took a couple of times, me popping him off and explaining why we stopped for him to figure out that when I said "be gentle with mama's nipple" that he needed to suck softer or even quit sucking and just hold it in his mouth. Now I rarely have the teeth marks in my nipple and I think his positioning has improved.

This may be harder with younger children or children that don't quite have the vocabulary yet. He seems to have a very very large vocabulary for his age and understand more than I ever imagined he could.

Good luck!

My DD just got her first teeth recently at 14 months, so we're newly dealing with this. I asked about it at a LLL meeting and was told to keep an eye on DD's body position, as her acrobatic tendencies might have something to do with it. ie., teeth marks are worse if she's standing between my legs nursing, better if she's laying 'properly' across my lap.
