Thread Starter
So, over the past couple months I've been trying to eat more veggies for snack vs chips/crackers/cheese/etc... and I've succeded. Only, theirs a catch... I love the t marzetti ranch veggie dip So, what I'm wondering is, if anyone has a recipe for home-made veggie dip??

I use Daisy brand of sour cream, add a touch of butter milk to get the consistency I want, and then add a mix of:
2 - 3 t onion powder (or dried minced onion)
1 - 2 t dried dill
1 t garlic powder
salt (or seasoned salt)
pepper
2 t parsley flakes

I just kind of use that as a base and add more or different things depending on what it tastes like.

Though I admit that I usually prefer hummus with vegetables.

I love to use sour cream for dips (daisy or friendship brand). Just mix in water assortment of spices or finely chopped up veggies, onions, garlic, etc and you are set. It is so versatile, you really can do whatever you want with it depending on what you have and/or what you are eating it with.

I second the hummus.

if you are going for a "healthy" option, do like the pp's said and then replace 1/2 (or more, experiment with what tastes good to you) with yogurt.
do you eat tofu? this is good http://vegweb.com/index.php?topic=30496.0 if so..

I like Tzatziki for veggies. Strain plain yogurt through a cheesecloth-lined strainer (or buy Greek yogurt). Peel, seed and finely chop some cucumber. Mix cucumber, dill, garlic, salt, and lemon juice with the yogurt. I usually use dried dill and garlic powder because it's easy, but I'm sure you can use the real stuff. If you use fresh garlic, make sure to mince it pretty finely.

Hummus with baby carrots is a staple here.
