LOL! That will be my luck, only dogs will be the guilty party.

I've been following this thread - I had the same questions.

I'm a first-timer so I really don't know how things are going to go but I HATE HATE HATE having people in my house when it's dirty. Except for a few close friends, any kind of company kicks me into clean-up overdrive.
I already know that AS SOON as 37 weeks hits (right about when I'm off work too) I'll be doing a daily clean and I'll be jumping all over my husband to keep his things tidy too....hopefully I have the energy! I've also been SUPER into baking since getting pregnant so in a perfect world, I'll have enough time in early labour to do a bit of baking and get something in the crockpot for DH, my best friend who'll be our pseudo-doula, and the MW if they want. And in an even more perfect world, labour will last long enough for the crockpot dish to cook but not so long that it's all gone before I get some !!

I understand not wanting to have people in my house when it's dirty, but I really don't care about anyone else's house. Personally, I like it when I can find stuff. I'd rather see everything on the dining room table than neatly and tidily put away out of sight! Often it's kinda dark and I feel bad rummaging and making noise.
I bring my own food (Clif Bars and Tea), and am perfectly capable of scavenging for food in any kitchen. Or, in a long labor, I might call my husband to bring me something hot. I do live in the land of Starbucks. Usually someone will suggest it and grandma will run for some. Yum!

I totally understand the clean house thing! I went to bed without cleaning the kitchen one night, and happened to wake up in labor at 4am. When I walked into my kitchen, sugar ants had found their way in and were all over my counters! My labor progressed extremely quickly, and I was barely able to finish cleaning everything before the contractions were too overwhelming. I would have been mortified if my midwife had shown up and I hadn't been able to finish!

This is an interesting thread....

This will be my second HB and honestly I don't remember what my house looked like last time. My cousin was staying with us so I am sure it was cleaner then normal because I had that extra help. This time my 'help' in that capacity will not be arriving untill after the birth so I anticipate some mess as I am very tired and overwhelmed with this pregnancy.

A month ago we were susposed to move out of our old house and into our new house. The night before we moved our house caught on fire and all our things were smoked damaged (some burned but not most)...we still have not recived anything back. We are in our new house with given and borrowed and a few items that insurance paid for so far (new bedframe, dresser..etc)
My midwife did think that the condition of the new house was adding to my stress, BP issues and encouraged me to get more help...but I think everyone I know has been 'helped out' if you know what I mean. I have two other kids so that makes it really hard to keep up too. We did have a small storage space with a few things in it like old books and some of the kids toys.....but so funiture to store them in so it is just boxes on the floor...UHHH even if I had help, where would we put the stuff?

I did create a 'stash' of special food for my family/MW during labor, just after-- of special food to eat that I hid in a cabinet. Fancy chips, treat cereal, chocolate almond milk.... just stuff that is extra and special to us. We live 3 blocks from a grocery store so I am not too worried about food. I do wish I felt better enough to get more settled..... I went to Goodwill to get a bookshelf to help with the toy problem...with the running 2 yr old.....and while that was nice to get and to have I was EXAUSTED that day. Shopping is not working out well right now and we only have a small amount from insurance right now anyway.....
I don't think my MW will care....as long as she has a place for a short nap....yes, she takes little ones if the labor is going well but a little long!
