When you put your LO on the potty (for those with LO's who sit) do you help them off when they pee, or do you let them sit till they get up on their own? Sometimes Jena sits, pees, and pops right off, but other times she will just sit there, and I am not sure if I should initiate her getting off or wait for her to do it.

It depends. If I think he's done and he's still sitting there, I'll ask "Are you done?" and put my hands out so he knows I'll help him up if he is. If he doesn't reach out I usually leave him a bit longer, then ask again. Once in a while I'll just pick him up if he seems done. I don't know that it matters too much which you do. I do always stay right there so there isn't spilling when he's ready to get up.

I agree that it's part of the communication in EC. You have to get to know your own child and her signals that she's done or still has more. Usually, DD lets me know when she's done, and sometimes, when I just take her off because I think she's done, I end up with a poopy diaper a few minutes later. Oops!

I always wait until he wants off. Actually, it's frequently quite an effort to keep DS on the potty since he often just gets up and heads off to play. He stays put for longer on the potty insert on the big toilet because he needs my help to get down from there - as long as I keep offering him toys! He now says "all done" when he's finished, and I find that he almost always is accurate about that. It's taken a few months to get to that point though! (DS is 14 months).

Hi, I have wooden block learning puzzles, shapes, numbers, etc.
I sit on my big potty, she sits on hers, and we play puzzles until we both go.
It is a great time to spend an extra five minutes learning - takes the focus off of pottying (thus the stress of it goes away) and assocaites good things with pottying....
quality time with momma
and, especially in the morning when we have big pee pees...
we go to the potty in one bathroom, do puzzles,
then we go to momma's bathroom and brush our teeth (while she sits on the potty)...and usually she gets all her morning pees out this way.
during the day, we have puzzles, I have "body part" flashcards, stuff like that.
my dd is a year old.
