Finding a developmental ped in MD/DC/VA?

I posted not too long ago about our 3 yo ds. After much research & finally seeing our own ped, he recommended that we see a developmental ped for our ds - (possible SPD/ASD) for further evaluation. He set up an appt at the Children's Medical Hospital in DC (Dr. Elliot Gersh). From what I've seen, CP is more his focus & not SPD/ASD.

If you have a doctor (dev. ped) recommendation for KKI, JHU, Dupont, etc..I would really appreciate it.

I have heard other people recommend Dr. Shapiro at KKI here, although I personally have not used that doctor.

I went through a physician's assistant at KKI and didn't realize this person wasn't a doctor until later. We were seen much earlier than I would have expected (not the 9 month wait that so many parents talk about) but I'm still not sure how thorough the visit was (at least as compared to the highly respected doctors at KKI)

Best of luck - I know this can be a very painful journey. Still, sounds like your son has many positives in his favor!

We are going to KK Friday. We are also seeing a physician's assisant. Though I was told I would be talking with the PA and they would be looking at William but that I would also get to see the doctor for a bit. I figure if I am not happy I will just make another appointment with a doctor then even if it is MONTHS. At least this appt should give us some ideas.

We have an appt with Compart in June that we made on our own months ago. I think I'm going to stick with her & cancel the appt with the Children's Hospital.
