Breakfast

Help - I need breakfast ideas for my kindergartner. He needs protein with his breakfast to help him make it through his morning. If he has just carbs it's really hard on him.

Any ideas? So far he loves deviled eggs (simple - just a little mayo mixed in the yolk), PB&J (low sugar jelly) and every one in a while breakfast sausage.

I don't want to overload him on salt or sugar. He's not too picky an eater so I'll try anything for him if it would break up the monotony.

Ideas???

Does he like eggs other ways? You can add sausage or bacon and cheese to scrambled eggs. Or throw it all in a tortilla. My younger son loves fried eggs chopped up on toast. My oldest loves fried eggs, ham, and cheese on an english muffin.

Oatmeal would be good too, baked oatmeal is a lot different from regular oatmeal if he doesn't like that.

My older son loves pb&j muffins. Just toast an english muffin and add the pb&j. He eats it like a sandwich.

Maybe a smoothie? You can do them lots of ways, just make sure to add something with protein, nut butters or something.

French toast? I soak the bread long enough to be sure it's completely saturated with egg and milk. Then he gets carbs and protein together.

Eggs are our main source of breakfast protein, so I'll be watching this for other ideas!

peanut butter on a whole grain english muffin
bacon sweet potato hash
breakfast sausage with or without eggs
curried chickpeas
buckwheat cereal with a little brown sugar
hash (leftover pot roast or corned beef and potatoes)

Eggs, eggs, eggs. Egg muffins made with veggie and/or meats; egg custards made with fruit and/or nuts. If he's showing an issue with the carbs at this stage, I'd really work on limiting them rather than mitigating them. Eggs, meats, cheeses, nuts, green veggies are your best bets, limit grains, and restrict sweets like fruits to something that contains plenty of fat and protein.

English muffins or bagels with pizza or spaghetti sauce topped with cheese, broil.

Slices of bread topped with cheese, broil.

Egg salad sandwiches.

English muffins with a slice of cheese between the pieces, melt the cheese. I used to nuke them, but you could probably do it in the oven.

Mini-pancakes rolled up with a sausage inside.

Breakfast burritos with eggs, sausage, green peppers, onions, salsa, etc.

Breakfast steak and eggs. Do you have breakfast steaks there? It's just very thinly sliced steak you fry it up in a pan.

Quesadillas with cheese and meat or just cheese or cheese and vegetables.

Pizza.

Quiche or a fritatta.

Fritatta is a good one!
I add shredded cheddar and chopped (mild) green chilis in mine, but there are so many other things you can do with it. Bacon or crumbled sausage and cheese is probably pretty good too.
Or peppers and onions...
Served with a fruit-heavy smoothie... mmmmm... I think I know what i'm doing for breakfast this morning
