Whole Foods Pulls Raw Milk from Shelves in CA

Thought I would post something here because I know many MDC members in CA buy raw milk products from Whole Foods. Organic Pastures is typically the brand we can find in CA in stores. For those outside CA, raw milk can be sold in stores in CA.

As of March 13, Whole Foods has removed all raw milk from their shelves. I noticed this yesterday when I went to purchase some raw milk and butter. I didn't see milk, butter, cream, etc. on the shelves.

When I asked the store employees I got everything from it's illegal to sell now to something was wrong with it. It appears that Whole Foods legal department deems it's too risky to sell.

Here's a link to the Organic Pastures website which has a notice about it on their website:

I atually just discovered this myself last evening when I was at the Whole Foods in Santa Monica. I asked the guy in the dairy department and he said "oh we can't sell it anymore... It's some government thing". I asked him if by "some govt thing" he meant a new law or regulation and he had no clue. I told him there was no law preventing WF from carrying raw milk and I asked him to pass along to the manager that I was very disappointed the company was doing this. I don't actually buy raw milk there because it's too expensive. I get it at a raw food co-op, but I liked knowing it was available there.

The WFs near me suck at storage. Every time I've purchased from them it tastes off from the start. I returned one bottle that I hadn't noticed was past its pull date and the manager was giving me a hard time about it being raw and that's how it is.
