Dd, Newly 6 years old. Care to guess?

-Shp raktoysat
-hos klenrs
-shak ot shoos
-havlah
-Go to librare for noo viteo
-Go to plagrawd
-badres for toothbrath

It's a combination shopping list and wish-list for the day. Anyone else really enjoy their newly-spelling kids? I will keep all of these!

house cleaners
shake out shoes

go to library for new video
go to playground
batteries for toothbrush

I can't get the other two!

I love reading stuff my kids write. I came home at lunch to find a note from ds1 (almost 8) that said "Hoped you had a good day at work. PS. My game's are in the playroom." I stuck it on my desk at work because it makes me smile.

The other two took me a minute, even! Shipwreck playset and have lunch. It's amazing how accurate the phonetics are when I decode them, considering how completely inaccurate the actual spelling is.

Your ds sounds very literate!

For some strange reason, I thought havlah had something to do with food.

My son's quite entertaining with his writing. His bday is Saturday and he made up a wish list. It had a title, numbers, parenthesis, the whole deal. I mean really, how many 7 year olds use parenthesis correctly?

This is great! The spelling is fantastic, but what is also fantastic is that she wrote a to-do list and the things she felt necessary to include! Shake out shoes?? Hah, love it - classic!

This is a story Alex (just turned 6 also) wrote today:

Wuns I wus a monstor on honuwen and on honuwen I had anuthor frend to play with and I had a lot uv fun. The end.

(honuwen = Halloween)

So much fun!

Cute!

My husband recently found my newly-5-year-old at the computer, puzzling over why he couldn't get to his favorite site.

In the address bar, he had typed: pbskidzdokom.

I love these! It's one of those unexpected, fun little developmental stages. It's inspired me to want to learn more about early reading/writing/perception.

Our DD's teacher encourages the children to write and write for the fun of writing. She discourages correcting every single item that is misspelled.

I've noticed that my DD just really enjoys the process of expressing herself on paper and does not fear making mistakes.

Pretty cool. I'll keep her journals forever.

My 6 yo DS wrote a book entitled, "Baby Bob." He spelled it Bab Bob and then he wrote "elustraded by Joseph."

I love it! It is so much fun to see these literacy skills developing!

Cute! Can I guess?

Ship rake toy satellite
house cleaners
shake out shoes
Halvah
go to library for new video
go to the playground
badges for toothbrush

so she's running a mail-order business for unusual space toys, is in charge of your housekeeping service, and gives awards to her dental care equipment. Seems clear enough.

Mmmm halvah mmmmmm

ETA: or maybe it's "Hafla" and she's into belly dancing and mid. Eastern drumming?

I love these!

These are some of my son's, and I think they are pretty good: http://s994.photobucket.com/albums/a...t=100_1975.jpg

Saphire chan--everything's right, except the halvah! That one mistified me, too; it's "have lunch." And it's "batteries for toothbrush." We got her a fancy new one after a nasty dentist appointment. And "shipwreck toyset." It's a Playmobil set she and dh were charged with getting, on sale at
Toys R Us. She checks off her lists, too. I have to leave LOTS of time before we go to the grocery store, and it's pretty funny pulling out a full-size piece of construction paper, especially if she's not with me!

hakeber, your son's pictures are beautiful! I especially love the bee. And is "moof" move?

awwwww! Thanks for sharing her list.

Last week I had to keep the first draft of my eight year-old's homework. It was a piece of writing about her favourite place; complete with it's amazing beach and caves with pointy things called staled tits and staled mites in them.

For earth day last year, this student-made work book came home - it was about 4 pages and said something like:

Tern of your lites!

It cracked me up. I showed it around and work and hung it in my cube.

Yup..The crane is "moofing" the robot.

ETA: I am also not sure where he even learned the word nectar. I am sure I didn't know that word until like 3rd grade science!

Thanks. This time last year he could barely draw even a rough semblance of a shape so I am really amazed how fast he went from Jackson Pollack to dali/picasso-esque drawings, to actual recognizable pictures.

Sage advice!

That's some serious cute, right there!

So cute I love it! My 4 year old has been doing the same thing, though he is usually only brave enough to try single words. It is amazing to see how close they get! And in his quest to spell, I learned that all this time he thought his name was Anjroo. I guess we have been lazy in our pronunciation--I had to explain to him that it was actually anDRew.
