Reasonably priced toddler sandals?

Thread Starter
I need to find sandals for DS (size 8 or 8.5). I know I could just go to Nordstroms and have a lovely selection of nice flexible-soled sandals, but I would rather not break the bank!

Any suggestions of either stores or brands? The only brand I can ever think of is See Kai Run, and I haven't been able to find any discounted ones.

Preferences:
Flexible Sole (every sandal at Target is stiff as a board)
Size 8 or 8.5
Fairly traditional sandal- sporty ones are ok, prefer simple leather sandal,
No flip-flops, crocs, etc.

TIA!

Do you have a Rack nearby?

I got DS a pair of leather ones at Stride Rite (Stride Rite brand) that were around $24.00. He has previously refused any shoes except for Robeez so they must be pretty comfy. They had about 10 styles to choose from. The store I went to was in an outlet mall, so I'm not sure if that is the regular price. (They also have Robeez for $14.99!!)

I'm not sure what you're looking to spend, but we had a pair of Rileyroos that we really liked. We had these, but these sound more like what you're looking for.

They're $32, and I am on their mailing list and they do occasionally send discounts (maybe 1-2 times a year, not too often). I think when I got them, they were $27 after shipping.

Rileyroos are nice but they come in infant sizes only
I am also looking for some flexible shoes but in size 8 and up they are hard to find. It looks like manufacturers decided that 2 year olds can be fine in hard soled shoes. Sure, if you're willing to spend close to $60, you'll find some.
By the way, in my opinion see kai runs are not the best for everyday abuse. The leather scratches instantly. They are good for house shoes or special occasion. Just to run in the park I think stride rites a little better. Not my favorite brand but I heard they are going out of biz and are on sale now (check a local stride rite store)

Have you checked out soft star shoes? They are really well made (in the US!) and have great flexibility. I'm not sure on the price though.

Nike, of all brands, has a sporty foam-soled sandal that we had last year and will probably get again this year. I've seen them at Famous Footwear. They're super light and very flexible. Also super easy to get on and off. My DD lived in hers last year, and they were dirty but still holding up well by fall. Colors are limited, though, I think they come in pink and black.

Here's the black one at JCPenneys. I only paid like $12-15 IIRC...but famous footwear has those buy 1 get 1 50% off sales...

What about Robeez Tredz? I find the pair I have to be more flexible than SKR and they seem to run big-ish.

Riley Roos also run HUGE, DS wears a 5-5.5 and the 12-18 month are still too big.

Salt-water sandals or other Sun-San styles
"The Original Sandals" have pretty hard but very flexible soles--they are called "Littleway stitched soles"

I just got a pair from Old Navy, sorta looks like watershoes but sandals. I usually don't get DD's shoes there but these were nice, flexible and $15.
