wearing second baby

I wore my first a lot. He hated his stroller and he wouldn't nap in his bassinet. I thought for sure I would wear this baby (5 weeks) even more so I could have my hands free to deal with my son (almost 3). The thing is, it's not as easy as I thought. For one thing, my back gets tired easily, for another, I find it very hard to deal with a large, tantrumming toddler whilst wearing the baby, for another, there are certain chores that I can't do with the baby strapped to me (like draining a pot of pasta). I'm finding it much easier to have the baby in the stroller (which she likes) or even in the dreaded car seat. I'm looking forward to her being old enough to go into the bouncy chair at home.

Can anyone else relate to this? By the way, I currently own a pouch sling, a wrap and an ergo (no infant insert).

What about trying baby wrapped on your back. It would make it alot easier to do chores and deal with your 3 yr old.

I second learning a back carry with the wrap (as long as it's a woven and not stretchy). Back carries with wrap or mei tai during those early weeks was a life saver for me. I don't know how else I could have taken care of the siblings (all under 5 at the time) without back carries. It's intimidating at first, but search on youtube for carries like secure back carry and back cross carry and practice, practice, practice over something soft and/or someone spotting you.

I was also going to suggest a back carry. I found it very handy especially dealing with a flailing toddler! Its a little scary at first, when learning, but after you get the hang of it, its a lifesaver.
