Choke Hold - Page 2

I wanted to add to all that's been said before ...

Even if it wasn't sexual, the "choking game" kills children and adults, young and old, even when not related to sex play.

I had a tenant who told me the story of losing her teenage boy this way. He had the "game" explained/taught to him by others on his sports team. He did it at home later, and died.

OMG how terrible!!! This ha been one of my biggest points what if my son had not told me would he have shown his friend or do it to himself.

I really did not want to have to sit my son down and tell him about this but I had to. Now I feel a little more of his innocence has been stolen.

I hated talking with my children about it, but my tenant (who poured her grief into advocacy) urged me shortly after she met me to talk to my kids about it, because kids as young as seven have died this way. I put it into the category of talking about drugs.

It's so good that you and your son have this open line of communication, and doing whatever you can to preserve it by sharing information with him but not overreacting is the best thing you can do to protect him (that, and keeping him away from this creepy horrible roommate!).

Hugs. I would be feeling so off-balance in your shoes.
