Does anyone else Crossfit here? Or are trying to lose weight while TTC?

For those of you who have no idea what Crossfit is, it's a style of workout that is super intense and short, repetitively using functional movements and avoiding exercises that serve only to isolate and enlarge muscles, such as curls. We do olympic weight lifting, gymnastics training movements, calisthenics and running. It's also as intense as a boot camp workout, but with smiles and encouragement instead of abuse. I love it!!

I've been doing Crossfit for the last few months and I'm loving it. I'm also trying to conceive and I'm really curious how long into my pregnancy I can keep that up. I do a lot of interval training on the treadmill on my non-Crossfit days, and I regularly get my heart rate up to 170-180 bpm. I know I'll probably have to give up the jumping exercises and sit-ups during second and third trimester, but I want to make sure I can still do some of the intense workouts I've been doing during my pregnancy so I don't have to take so long to get back to pre-pregnancy weight like I did last time.

I lost the 27 lbs I gained with my pregnancy, plus another 22 lbs and I have 18 more to go before I reach my goal. Sometimes it feels ridiculous trying to lose weight while trying to get pregnant, but I really just want to be in the best shape I can be before I conceive, and maintain that as best as I can so that I can bounce back quickly. I've stalled in my weight loss the last 4 months, but hopefully a little tweak in my eating and a slightly tougher daily workout will help me break through to more weight loss...either that, or I'll get a positive pg test!

I am trying to get fitter even though I could become pregnant (we don't use bc). The thing I am going to be careful is not to do anything like sprinting when I find out I am pregnant. I do some crossfit-like stuff but I am not totally into it.

I think crossfit suggests more trying to maintain your fitness when preg.

I don't do crossfit specifically but a lot of similar training. I was doing it before I conceived ds as well & I think it was part of the reason we finally conceived.

I do know the feeling of conflict of losing weight & ttc - it somewhat feels counterproductive.

I don't do cross fit but i am losing weight while ttc. We have been ttc for about 10 months and over about a course of 8 months i had gained about 20 pounds, because i was eating anything i wanted and always thinking i was preggo, plus i didn't have a set exercise routine. So which is worse being overweight and finding out you are pregnant or losing weight while ttc, I decided that the later was a healthier option and threw any risks with losing weight and ttc out the window, while i have found there aren't many. I have done a complete about face on what i eat (i follow the eat to live plan) and have a set 4-5 schedule at the gym doing cardio and I don't regret it one bit, I've lost about 20 pounds since january and have another 20 pounds to go. I have read that once you are pregnant your max heart rate should be about 130-140 bpm. Not sure why, but currently mine doesn't get much higher than 150 bpm, so it would only be a slight adjustment for.

HTH and keep up the good work!

yup, crossfitter here. If you look on the main site there are-or at least were-pics of at least one woman (Annie if you want to search) working out well into her 8th month and I think she continued into the ninth. I can ask if you like, but the info may still be there.

Good luck!
