For those of you who have no idea what Crossfit is, it's a style of workout that is super intense and short, repetitively using functional movements and avoiding exercises that serve only to isolate and enlarge muscles, such as curls. We do olympic weight lifting, gymnastics training movements, calisthenics and running. It's also as intense as a boot camp workout, but with smiles and encouragement instead of abuse. I love it!!
I've been doing Crossfit for the last few months and I'm loving it. I'm also trying to conceive and I'm really curious how long into my pregnancy I can keep that up. I do a lot of interval training on the treadmill on my non-Crossfit days, and I regularly get my heart rate up to 170-180 bpm. I know I'll probably have to give up the jumping exercises and sit-ups during second and third trimester, but I want to make sure I can still do some of the intense workouts I've been doing during my pregnancy so I don't have to take so long to get back to pre-pregnancy weight like I did last time.
I lost the 27 lbs I gained with my pregnancy, plus another 22 lbs and I have 18 more to go before I reach my goal. Sometimes it feels ridiculous trying to lose weight while trying to get pregnant, but I really just want to be in the best shape I can be before I conceive, and maintain that as best as I can so that I can bounce back quickly. I've stalled in my weight loss the last 4 months, but hopefully a little tweak in my eating and a slightly tougher daily workout will help me break through to more weight loss...either that, or I'll get a positive pg test!
