bath time toy storage?

My daughter is getting to the age of enjoying bath time as a play time activity. She's got a few bath toys but nothing much. However my mom got her some bath crayons for Easter, and I got her a set as well. I'm thinking I'll only use one set at a time and store the rest in a box with her toys, but I should I store the crayons? Not to mention the other little bits she has in there (rubber ducky, random plastic dino, etc)? I was thinking a hanging fruit basket (I got the idea somewhere on here actually!) and my dad suggested a mesh vinyl bag like you'd use for lingerie. I want/need something that will drain but won't trip me or my hubby in the shower. Something I can repurpose for free or for cheap is necessary too!

We bought this when dd was a baby - The First Years Stepstool I love it because we can sit on it while bathing the kids, they stand on it to wash their hands in the sink, and it has a lot of storage when you lift the top. It also has vent holes, so the toys can dry while put away. Dh and I always comment how it was our best baby buy. It gets used everyday. We love it!

We have a small collapse-able (sp?) mesh bag from Ikea that has a loop handle on it that lets it easily hang over the faucet to drain. It was really cheap and has held up for 3.5 years now and is still perfectly fine.

We have a mesh bag with suction cups that we hang in the corner of the bath. I think I got it from Babies R Us. All bath toys must fit in the bag. It has worked well for us.

I just used an idea I saw while reading a magazine at the doctor's office. It said to take a plastic milk jug and cut the top off to make it sort of like a scoop and cut drainage holes in the bottom. I did it and now we just scoop of the bath toys and it sits in the corner of the shower. And it was free!

we use an old shower caddy organizer thing that i used in college. it's oval shaped meshy plastic with suction cups. all his toys fit in there and it fits on the back ledge of the tub when stored, and it's easy for ds to access, and even dump out on his own (if it's not suctioned to the side)

Thanks for the milk jug idea. I was trying to think of some kind of household container that would be large enough. I'm thinking of doing a rotation for the bath toys. They'll go into a box on her toy shelf, and she'll get one set at at time, just like any other rotation. She really wouldn't have that many toys except I got one free through huggies points, she is getting one from my mom for easter, and she's getting one from me for easter. LOL! Also, we will give a second life to toys that have missing pieces by using them in the bath. If it floats she loves it!

I reused a mesh bag that oranges come in and put a plastic hook at the back of the tub to hang it on.

I found a nice seive/colander on sale once that we use for the kids toys. We either leave it in the tub to drain/dry after a bath or leave the cupboard where it is stored open overnight.

I use a colander for our tub toys. They just get scooped up at the end of bath time and it's left in the tub overnight to drain.

I like the collander ideas. We are a bit beyond bathtub play days....sniff. sniff...but at one point we found shells and pebbles and a sea sponge to be the tub favorites and as they doubled as bathroom decor it worked out well.

Drawstring net bag

Our bath toys are stored in two drawstring net bags that hang on an old tap in the corner of the bathroom. The bags came filled with potatoes, so were actually 'free'. I keep bath crayons on a shelf next to our tooth brushes. They have to dry out. Otherwise they become some kind of strange mush.

I bought 2 dishwasher utensil baskets & we use those for the toys. I have a
3rd one for markers/crayons. They were $1 each.

We have a toy bucket for the bath that I drilled drainage holes in.

My mom bought us the Boon Frog. I hate it. It didn't stay mounted on the wall, so now it just floats around our bathroom. But DS loves it. So I can't get rid of it. Sigh.

We have this one from Target and I LOVE it. It rarely falls down and we have had it for years!
