How long after stopping bc pills did you ovulate?

Some background: I starting taking bc pills 6 weeks postpartum and had the usual bleeding for a few days each month. My son will be 1 year old at the end of April, and we may start TTC in May.

How long can I expect to wait to ovulate after stopping my last pill, considering I have not had a cycle with ovulation since the cycle I got pregnant in summer 2008? I know it can vary, but I'm hoping for some good news, like maybe within a couple of weeks.

when i stopped them before ds#3, i o'd 2 wks later and had af on schedule, and got pg the next cycle. it does vary though. but it's not unusual to o very soon after.

The only time I've ever been on hormonal bc was after my daughter was born still and I was on the pill for 2 cycles. I usually have very long cycles but the first cycle off bc, I ovulated on CD 10 and the next cycle, on CD 18 (that cycle, we conceive!).

Very best of luck to you!

I didn't temp for several months after coming off of b/c, so I don't know for sure, but I'd say it took me a maximum of four cycles. Probably less.

I didn't temp the first cycle, and it was a very long cycle, so I have no idea if I Od then or not.

But I definitely did on the second cycle, because 9 months later and I'm waiting for this kid to make her entrance to the world!

Thanks, everyone, that's encouraging!

Now, all I have to do is convince my husband to start TTC #2 in May as I had hoped.

I o'd about 10 days after my last pill. Never had a full cycle-- preggo right away!

My SIL was over a year to O and 6 more month to get PG, but I was PG 6 weeks after I took my last pill. LOTS of variation.

I was on bc pills for 12 years and just stopped 5 weeks ago. This was my first cycle ever charting as well, but I had very clear fertility signs (thermal shift and fertile CF) indicating O exactly 2 weeks after stopping and I also had AF basically right on schedule 2 weeks after that. We are TTC soon as well and I have been in your boat, hoping that its not going to be delayed too much because of the pills. But I am really encouraged by this past cycle, and I hope the same for you. Good luck!

Before DD, I was on the combination pill. After stopping them, it took me 5 months to ovulate, and my LP that cycle was only 5 days. Then I had a 28-day anovulatory cycle, followed by the cycle that resulted in DD.

I was on the minipill for a few months after DD's birth, but stopped them at about 10 months PP. I am quite sure I ovulated 3 months later. I have only had possibly one ovulation since, though, and I am now 20 months PP, so don't look to this experience for any help--the delay probably had nothing to do with the pill.

I'm entering my 4th cycle after the pill.I've been told and see in many places that it takes up to 3 months after you're off the pill. I should be Oing any day now.. hoping it's really out of my system & this is a successful month!! Good luck to you, Sweet.Bee
