Okay, I'm trying not to talk myself into freaking out, so reassure me
I'm 14 weeks and 4 days (confirmed by early u/s at 9 weeks, plus I pretty much knew date of conception). The top of my uterus is like an inch below my belly button. Isn't that a bit high?
Straight-up, I'm absolutely petrified of having twins. I'm not advanced maternal age, and we weren't using any fertility treatments, but I have the dreaded family history: my mother is a fraternal twin, and a female cousin on that side also has had fraternal twins. So I'm already naturally a bit freaked out that it's possible.
I'm with an OB practice, I did get my levels checked when they did a full blood panel at 9 weeks but they tend to not tell you anything unless there is a reason for concern.
Reasons why I am NOT having twins:
1) Only one baby in the 9-week ultrasound. The yolk sac and the baby were very clearly seen, they checked out my whole uterus. Bad thing: the baby stayed very still the entire time, so something COULD have been hiding behind it. Tell me how unlikely this is.
2) At that visit, OB also checked my uterus by internal/external palpation, and saw nothing unusual.
3) At my last visit (a week ago), he checked for the heartbeat with the doppler, and it took a minute or two to find it. The baby was kind of tucked down in my pelvic bone. I think if there were two heartbeats to find, that would have been obvious while he was looking around? Note: he didn't measure my uterus with the tape measure or feel for fundal height, he usually starts doing that at the next visit I think, as I remember from last time. This was kind of just a quick urine/bp/weight/doppler/how you feeling? visit.
4) I have a very short torso, so that could throw off fundal height (although last time I measured right on the whole time)? Could this being my second child throw off fundal height? Could all kinds of other things affect it?
Am I just working myself in a tizzy for no reason?
Help.

I'm worrying too Kelly! I'm 15 weeks and my fundus is also a bit below my belly button. My midwife said yes, I was measuring big, but she thought I would be bigger if it was twins. She thinks I'm just in the range of normal, especially for a third baby. I'm just waiting for the 20 week u/s to reassure myself! It's not likely, especially since they saw one at your 9 weeks u/s. My 9 week u/s looked like an elongated letter B, it's that double curve that has me flipping about twins!
