4 months old, not gaining weight

My 4.5 month old twins have not gained weight in the last month. Up until now they gained very well. They're otherwise healthy and they have enough dirty diapers. I'm exclusively nursing at least every 3-4 hours.

Over the last few weeks I've noticed that I'm no longer leaking and that my breasts don't ever feel full. I'm not sure if this is because my supply is down or because the babies are constantly draining me so I never have a chance to leak or get too full.

I'm not dieting or exercising too much; I'm somewhat stressed and tired but not to the point where I think it would be interfering with supply.

The pediatrician suggested starting solids and mixing cereal with formula. I'd rather not, at least not at this point.

I'm so disappointed Things had just started to get sane around here and I was starting to feel capable of being a good mom to all my kids and now this.

Any thoughts?

Hi, just wanted to say that I posted a very similar post a few minutes ago! My ds will be 5 months in a few days and I have the same issues. I just looked it up on Kellymom and found that it is probably normal...Guess we'll wait for more replies Thanks!

I'm so sorry you're going through this, mama. You deserve a major pat on the back for EBF your twins.
It is normal for moms to fear at around four months – usually needlessly –that their supply has decreased.
But it is not normal for babies to stop gaining weight. The average BF baby gains 5-7 oz a week up to four months and 4-5 ounces up to six months.
I would see an IBCLC immediately to help your identify possible causes and solutions, such as domperidone if it is a supply issue and short-term supplementation at the breast with a SNS.
