finally convinced dh that we should try Charlie's, but now I'm nervous

I have finally convinced my dh to let us give Charlie's Soap a try. But now that I have the green light I'm hesitant. I totally trust Karen from GMD, since all of her advice thus far has been wonderfully perfect! I do everything the way she recommends in the diapering world, except using Charlie's. But I keep reading about horrible chemical burns and rashes that people are experiencing with Charlie's and now I'm scared.

We are currently using Purex Free and Clear for our diapers, and scented Arm & Hammer Essentials for our other laundry. Both work fine, but I really like the fact that Charlie's rinses clean, instead of coating our laundry. I read reviews of Charlie's from people raving about their clean, soft, fresh laundry and I really want that! I like the smell of our A&H, but I know it's making a residue on our clothes and may not be cleaning them very well. My diapers do smell like nothing at all when they are clean, and I don't have stink or stain issues at all. Maybe I shouldn't fix what's not broken. I don't know...I'm so torn.

What do you think? How has your experience been with switching to Charlie's from a mainstream detergent? I really need someone to help sway me one way or the other. TIA!!

I have used Charlie's for over a year without any issues. I didn't know about burns until well after I started using it. And, I like it, but everyone is different. It's hard to say. If you think the risk is too much I wouldn't "fix what isn't broken" just as you said.

It worked fine for us, but I have moved on ... I agree with the "if it ain't broke..."

We have used it for over a yr and love it! I was scared to use it as well as my DD has very sensitive skin. We have had no issues but I did strip our washer and diapers very well before putting them on her when we made the switch.

What you could do is keep doing what your doing and IF you have problems make the switch. Also you could call Charlies Soap and express your concerns to Talyor he is great for helping you out!

My son has sensitive skin and we've used it for 3 years on our dipes and all our/his clothes with no problems. But, if you like what you use, you don't need to switch because someone else suggests it! And, if you try it and don't like it, nothing is stopping you from switching back.
